Stabilization of rural primary schools with small
DOBIÁŠOVÁ, Lucie
This bachelor thesis deals with the stabilization of rural primary schools with a small number of pupils in the Benešov district. Based on interviews with primary school principals and mayors of municipalities with such schools, problems associated with the functioning of small and complete rural primary schools with a small number of pupils were identified. The interviews were structured guided interviews, which were used to analyse the relationships between the primary school and the village management, between the primary school and the community of the village residents, and to examine the characteristics of the pupils and teachers of the primary school. The primary schools under study (9 schools in total) were grouped into several types according to completeness and number of pupils. The rural primary schools surveyed in the Benešov region tend to have a small proportion of pupils from socially disadvantaged backgrounds and with educational difficulties. Funding for the operation of rural primary schools by the municipalities concerned varies widely. Some municipalities save on their primary school, others support it financially beyond the normal level. Most primary schools and the management of the municipalities concerned cooperate in organising events for children and other inhabitants of the municipality. Both institutions help each other. Primary schools in rural villages are very important in terms of cultural events in the villages. Both pupils and teachers of the primary school are involved in these events. The qualification of teachers in rural primary schools is slightly lower than in urban primary schools. The answers of mayors were mostly in line with those of principals. The thesis also includes an analysis of relevant Czech and foreign literature, including qualification papers, and some proposed tools and measures to save and stabilize rural primary schools with a small number of pupils.
Stabilizace venkovských základních škol s malým počtem žáků (okresy Prachatice a Český Krumlov)
KOUTOVÁ, Kateřina
Rural primary schools often struggle with a small number of pupils, especially those located in peripheral areas. These schools often face the threat of reducing the number of classes and grades, or even with the threat of complete extinction. Another problem is that these schools are not considered by parents to be of sufficient quality, and that is the reason why they send their children to distant city schools. This bachelor's thesis aims to create a portfolio of topics for preservation, stabilization, and development of rural primary schools with a small number of pupils (including small schools with composite classes), based on an analysis of the literature and interviews with representatives of these schools. The survey finds information about pupils and teachers of primary schools, about the relationship between the primary school and municipality, in which is the primary school located, as well as about the relationship between the primary school and the community of the municipality, and many other problems. A key part of the bachelor's thesis is a set of topics for preservation, stabilization and development of the monitored type of primary schools.
Optimization of the territorial organization of elementary schools in the district of Kutná Hora.
VOLF, Dominik
The main goal of the bachelor's thesis was to suggest the optimization of the territorial organization of elementary schools in the district of Kutná Hora. Several gradual steps led to this goal, finding out the territorial distribution of individual types of schools, finding out the number of pupils belonging to one class at the first and second level of schools, mapping the catchment areas of schools at both levels, finding out the number of younger and older school-age children in settlements at individual catchment areas of school territory, comparison of the number of school pupils and the number of school-age children in the catchment areas of schools, assessment of facilities and condition of schools, the last step was the proposal of optimization. There are 18 complete and 11 incomplete elementary schools (without special ones) in the Kutná Hora district. Rural complete schools often include dozens of catchment areas with a small number of school-age children. There are few incomplete schools with the exception of small schools with composite classes. Only one whole school is threatened to be reduced to an incomplete school. Incomplete schools should remain in operation. The bachelor's thesis suggest several modifications of school catchment areas, several modifications of public transport connections in an effort to develop the transport of pupils to and from school and several additions to school facilities.
Optimalizace spádových regionů základních škol v SOORP Příbram
VLTAVSKÁ, Ivana
The bachelor thesis analyzes the territorial arrangement of elementary schools and their catchment areas in the distrcit of Příbram and strives for optimizing this arrangement. Rural areas have a lower density of elementary schools than more urbanized and densely populated areas. There are often elementary school with only the first stage. In rural areas, commuting of pupils is significantly realized to elementary schools located in larger rural settlements, and to elementary schools in towns in the first stage and especially in the second stage of these schools. From some rural settlements, it is difficult to get to elementary schools by public transport. This bachelor thesis tries to suggest such a territotial arrangement of elementary schools with only the first stage and elementary schools with both stages and their catchment areas in the district of Příbram, which would reduce the difficult commuting of pupils to elementary schools. There are 17 elementary schools with the first stage and 7 elementary schools with the first and the second stage in the studied area of the district of Příbram. All should be preserved, although they often take the form of rural, small, elementary schools. In the bachelor thesis, several modifications of the catchement areas of elementary schools in the district of Příbram are proposed.
Optimalizace spádových regionů základních škol v ORP Znojmo
CAFOURKOVÁ, Linda
The administrative district of Znojmo is a border and internally heterogeneous area. The west part of the district is a distinct periphery with small, depopulated villages. The surroundings of Znojmo and the north and east parts of the district are quite exposed areas with rural settlements. This geographical arrangement affects placement, catchment and availability of elementary schools. There are 27 fully organized town and rural elementary schools and 16 incomplete rural elementary schools that are mostly small schools. Mainly in the west part of the area, there are schools that do not comply with the standards of a minimum number of pupils per classroom which means that the number of pupils who attend the school is lower that it should be. The optimization measures for the rescue of schools with insufficient number of pupils are suggested in the bachelor thesis. No elementary school should be abolished - we suggest transforming two schools from fully organized schools to incomplete schools and we adjust the catchment area for other school.

Moreover, analysis of facilities elementary schools and their space and building characteristics are contained in diploma thesis. A separate attention is dedicated to elementary schools in Šumava part of study area, where solutions to sustain these schools even with small number of pupils are sought.
The Rural Teacher Jaroslav Petr and His Legacy to Contemporary Education
Martincová, Petra ; Váňová, Růžena (advisor) ; Kasper, Tomáš (referee)
The thesis seeks to introduce and systematize the work of a long-time forgotten rural teacher Jaroslav Petr (1862-1922). Today basically unknown, he once was an important figure in the pedagogic circles. Although isolated, misunderstood and boycotted by conservative colleagues as well as by then highly influential Catholic authorities, he strived for emancipation of Czech schools within the Habsburg monarchy and especially for modernization of elementary education (refusing herbartianism, promoting hands-on teaching, free school, child-centered approach and other modern concepts). Naturally, he mainly addressed rural-specific challenges. As one of the first Czech education workers he realized the important impact of environment on the development of a (child's) personality, developed so called pedagogic regionalism and accordingly is an author of an innovative model textbook called Elementary teaching for rural schools (Prvouka na škole venkovské) which is based on its principles. At the same time, Petr was alarmed by the low quality of literature written for children or chosen for children to read, and strived for improving it - he wrote numerous literary reviews, essays on how children literature should look like, proposed reading lists, edited several children's readers with special emphasis on folk...
